Operates locally - no gateway required
All Shelly WiFi devices come with a built-in web server, providing a range of features that work seamlessly, regardless of your internet connection. You can start using just one Shelly device without needing a gateway. The built-in web server allows Shelly to store information like sunrise, sunset, and schedules, ensuring functionality even during network outages. Relays and dimmers operate like standard push relays, making them compatible with your existing switches, even offline. All inputs and outputs are fully programmable and only need local WiFi for device communication. However, we recommend maintaining an active internet connection to unlock additional features.

All Shelly devices operate locally without needing Shelly Cloud, but activating it is recommended for easier data storage and enhanced features. The devices can also communicate using MQTT, HTTP, and WebSocket, all with TLS support.
